SlipStream
Accelerated Dialup Service Q&A
|
| What is SlipStream? |
| |
SlipStream is a software solution
that compresses and optimizes content delivered via the web, and
email protocols. |
| Why should I use it? |
| |
Because a great deal of the information passed
over the web and email is inefficient. By not compressing it efficiently,
you're actually loosing time that you could have used doing other
things. Instead, you're waiting for your download to finish. |
| Why isn't the internet more efficient? |
| |
Internet protocols are designed to be robust,
and easy to program, so adoption is very widespread. The simplicity
of the system means a lot of redundant, uncompressed, and inefficiently
compressed data. The internet was designed with the goal of being
widely adoptable and easy first, efficient second. |
| What are the requirements to use SlipStream? |
| |
Currently, SlipStream only supports Windows 95
and newer PCs. An OSX version is in the works, but older MacOS versions
will not be supported.
Your PC must have 64MB or greater of RAM and be at least a Pentium
200 or faster to appreciate the SlipStream Service. (OSX requirements
will be availible when the software is released) |
| What do I need? |
