Server Instructions
- Double click on “My Computer”
- Double click on “Control Panel”
- Double click on “Network and Dial-up Connections”
- Double click on “Make New Connection”
- “Network Connection Wizard” should appear.
- Click “Next >”
- Make sure the “Dial-up to Private Network” radio
button is selected.
- Click “Next >”
- Type in the local access number that you were given during signup.
If you do not have one, go to http://www.california.com/support/basic/accessnumber.html.
Before using this number, you must call the operator and determine
whether or not it is a toll call.
- Select whether you want all users to have access to this connection,
or only the current user. If you are unsure of which to choose,
select “Only for myself.” (You will be the only user
who has access to California.Com on that computer.
- Click “Next >”
- For most users, the “Enable Internet Connection Sharing
for this connection” box should not be checked.
- Click “Next >”
- Name the connection. You can name it anything you want, but
it may be easier for us to give you technical support if the connection
is named “CaliforniaCom”
- Type in the Username and Password which you chose during signup.
You can select that the password be saved so that you don’t
have to enter it each time you log on.
- Click “Dial.” The modem should dial up and connect.
You may begin surfing the web by clicking the “Internet
Explorer” icon on your desktop. (You can use any browser
you want)
