KAABOO Del Mar is more than just another music festival. The beachside extravaganza is an exuberant adult escape featuring live music, extraordinary cuisine, sidesplitting comedy, luxurious spa indulgences, and stunning artwork. So get ready to mark your calendar, because the 5th annual KAABOO fest is taking over the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds in sunny San Diego from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15.
This year’s star-studded concert lineup includes the Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons, Dave Matthews Band, Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Colbie Caillat, and more. If that’s not enough to keep you entertained, several acclaimed comedians—including Bob Saget, Wayne Brady, Bert Kreischer, and Pete Holmes & Friends, among others—will take the stage, too.
Festival-goers can also see a variety of public artwork at KAABOO—which will display installations and murals by 100 national and international artists—and get a taste of San Diego, with the culinary Palate lineup providing locally sourced, artisanal fare from numerous renowned chefs.
For those who’d rather sit back and get pampered, KAABOO’s Indulgences amenity features massages, blow-outs, skin treatments, and even IV nutrient therapy to cure any ailments. Another unique KAABOO offering is Bask, a Las Vegas–style pool club complete with a sandy beach, DJ, gaming area, private cabanas, and a view of the Sunset Cliffs stage. If all you want to do is soak up the sun, cool down in the pool, listen to music, and watch main-stage performances from your lounge chair, purchase a separate Bask-only weekend pass for $110.
Approximately 40,000 people attended KAABOO last year, and even more are expected to come this year. Given the ever-growing popularity of the festival, it is recommended that ticket holders book lodging well in advance. There are several high-quality options nearby, including the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Hilton San Diego/Del Mar, and L’Auberge Del Mar.
KAABOO organizers also urge festival-goers to come via public transportation—especially since the event is easily accessible by bus and trolley—but if you prefer to drive yourself, on-site parking and valet are available. Just note that since there is a limited amount of space, you must purchase a parking permit in advance with your ticket.
KAABOO offers four ticket tiers:
- The three-day “Hang Loose” pass ($339) is the general admission ticket, granting entry to all weekend events without any additional perks.
- The “Hang Five” ($919) is ideal for those who want access to the new Amplify zone—an exclusive lounge featuring special performances by KAABOO artists and dedicated culinary offerings—and a premium viewing area at each stage.
- The “Hang Ten” ($3,599) is perfect for music enthusiasts who are dying to meet the artists, as this pass includes access to the backstage KAABOO artist lounge and to the famed Bask pool club. (This package also comes with a golf-cart chauffeur to whisk you from place to place, making it a top choice if you think you might get tired of walking around.)
- The splurge-worthy “Ultimate Hang” pass ($20,000) is for the ultimate VIP who is determined to have an extraordinary experience and is particularly keen on the culinary aspect of the festival. With this pass, you’ll enjoy gourmet meals curated by a private chef in the “Ultimate Hang” lounge as well as access to an exclusive pre-event experience and a dedicated on-site concierge.
So if you need a break from your busy lifestyle and want to let loose at an amazing, five-in-one festival by the beach, then give KAABOO Del Mar a shot!
