Taco Bell is an iconic California-founded fast-food chain serving Mexican-inspired fare. And while it might not be the healthiest option out there, no one can deny how delicious it is. We all know and love the famous tacos and wraps on the menu, but there is much more to this chain than what meets the eye. Take a peek at the Taco Bell secret menu items and allow yourself to experiment with the delicious entrees, sides, sauces, and dips.

What is a Secret Menu?

Secret menu items are, in essence, just creations of fans of a restaurant, and Taco Bell’s secret menu is no exception. These entries stem from foods on the traditional menu which are either picked apart or enhanced with an extra ingredient or two, resulting in a mouthwatering creation. So, anything you order that isn’t on the regular menu could be considered a Taco Bell hidden menu item. Feel like nothing on the list satisfies your craving? Create your own order and have yourself a personalized Taco Bell secret menu concoction.

Taco Bell secret menu items to Try

The Cheesarito

The Taco Bell Cheesarito is perhaps the most popular item on the fast-food chain’s hidden menu for good reason. The Cheesarito has all the manageability of a burrito, all the gooey cheesy goodness of a quesadilla, and is wrapped up to make a drool-worthy combination that’s hard to resist. It's basically melted cheese, scallions, and taco sauce wrapped in a soft tortilla. The Taco Bell Cheesarito packs plenty of flavors and tastes just as good as it sounds.

The Hulk

The Hulk is another Taco Bell secret menu item that has gained enough popularity to become not-so-secret anymore. This concoction most likely stems from the collective belief we all share about guac making everything taste better. It’s basically an average bean and cheese burrito with extra added guacamole. The cool, fresh flavor of guacamole mixed with the hot beans and gooey cheese make for an appetizing mixture and one of our favorite Taco Bell hidden menu items.

The tacos originally cost 19 cents, and apparently customers pronounced them “Tay-Kohs” at first. Photo courtesy of Taco Bell.

The Incredible Hulk

When you’re ordering from the Taco Bell secret menu, make sure you specify which version of the Hulk you’re after—there’s the regular Hulk, and then there’s The Incredible Hulk. The latter is a mightier guacamole blend and one that’ll make you drool at first sight. This one is basically a five-layer burrito with guacamole instead of nacho cheese, and boy is it a feast! Can’t let go of neither cheese nor guac? Just order a five-layer burrito with added guacamole and call it the super mega incredible hulk.

The Enchirito

Fun fact: the beloved Enchirito used to be on the traditional Taco Bell menu until it was sadly removed in 2013. However, it remains an item so popular that you can just go up to any Taco Bell counter and order it—the employee will know exactly what you mean. Not only is this Taco Bell secret menu item prolific, but it’s also highly carolific. A combination of enchilada and burrito, the Enchirito is a flavor-packed monster jammed with melted cheese, beans, onions, and beef, covered in red cheesy and tomatoey sauce; yum indeed!

The Superman

Are you on a hunt for the most filling item on Taco Bell’s secret menu? Order the mighty Superman. Putting all other burritos to shame, this ferocious wrap is basically a double-beef burrito loaded with sour cream, guacamole, tortilla chips, and potatoes. We already love all those ingredients separately, so we can only imagine how flavorsome this combination can be. Order this Taco Bell secret menu item on a day where you need all the carbs you can get. While it’s a definite gut-buster, its combination of flavors is too good to miss.

Chilli Cheese Burrito

If you're obsessed with chili as much as we are, then you have to try the Chili Cheese Burrito. This Taco bell hidden menu item is chili cheese rolled into a soft flour tortilla, making a meaty and messy burrito. You can also ask chili cheese to be added to any burrito and you’ll get a different variation of this Taco Bell secret menu item. If we have one tip for ordering the Chilli Cheese Burrito, it would be to get it to go; trust us, it will get messy.

Taco Bell's secret menu Hacks

The original Taco Bell logo was a colorful, lopsided creation depicting a man sleeping under a giant sombrero while sitting atop a bell.

Fresco Style

Fresco is not so much a Taco Bell secret menu item as it is a way of ordering. For all the vegan folks out there, if you enter a Taco Bell establishment and order something “Fresco Style,” the employees will substitute all the cheese and sour cream in your meal with pico de gallo. The meat will also be removed from your order when asked, but you can request for it to be substituted with black beans for extra protein and flavor.

Double Grilled Items

If you like your sandwiches with that perfect golden ratio between soft and crunchy, ask the Taco Bell employees to double grill your orders. This sneaky Taco Bell secret menu hack works especially well with quesadillas but can be done with a range of items such as tacos and burritos.

Doritos Anything

Taco Bell’s famous Doritos Locos Tacos caused quite the buzz when they first came on the scene. But did you know you could add Doritos to just about any meal you order from Taco Bell? That’s right, these bad boys go with almost everything on the menu and add a bit of satisfying crunch to every bite. Ask for your taco to be Dorito shelled or get your meal with a side of the flavorful chips. How about that for a Taco Bell secret menu hack?

Lava Sauce

You might need to do a little bit of DIY for this last Taco Bell secret menu hack, but trust us, it’s totally worth it. Remember the infamous lava sauce which got discontinued? Turns out you can still have it by mixing two other Taco Bell sauces together. Order a side of nacho cheese and mix in two or three packets of fire sauce (depending on how spicy you want it to be), and there you have your lava sauce back in all its fiery goodness.
