North Lake Tahoe serves as the stunning backdrop for Wanderlust Squaw Valley, a celebration of mindful living taking place July 18-21, 2019.

The mountainsides make way for open vistas, giant trees dot the landscape, warm days give in to cool nights, and a striking calm settles over the valley. Arriving here is a spiritual experience in itself, but the festival amplifies the feelings to a new level by placing holistic health at the forefront. It can be incredibly easy to put our health on the back burner as we rush through everyday life, but driving deep into the mountains, allowing ourselves to sit and meditate for an hour, and cultivating mindfulness throughout the day instantly transforms the body and mind.

Opt to camp out during Wanderlust to build memories that will last a lifetime. Set up your spot on Wednesday to give yourself plenty of time to settle in and meet fellow festival-goers before the adventure truly begins. Pitch the tent, roll out the sleeping bag, lather on the mineral sunscreen, and arm yourself with natural bug repellant before pulling out the s’mores to share at the campground as the sun goes down.

Before the main event begins, kick back and relax at the campground with fellow Wanderlust festival-goers.

As you wait in anticipation for the launch of the event, take advantage of the opportunities awaiting in this incredible location. Since Squaw Valley was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, the area is complete with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a cable car, horseback riding excursions, spas, and restaurants that can easily fill any gaps in your schedule.

Once Wanderlust officially kicks off, make sure to grab a towel and water bottle as you prepare to be guided through the festival by a curated selection of world-renowned teachers, artists, instructors, chefs, and performers. The festivities commence on Thursday, with several immersion classes beginning at 9 a.m. and the official opening ceremony taking place at 7:15 p.m. This experience is truly like no other: Only here can you experience the deep serenity that comes with savasana on a stand-up paddle board; the hope that comes with hiking mountain peaks; the energy that comes from sharing the dance floor with hundreds of like-minded individuals; and the connection that comes with sharing a farm-to-table meal with new friends.

While planning your schedule, leave some time for reflection, take one of the drop-in classes, and don’t miss the farm-to-table dinners, which are sure to be a highlight of the trip.

No matter what you decide, the beauty of Wanderlust is the journey. So relax, trust your instincts, and allow the transcendent energies to flow during the lectures, hands-on workshops, and every moment in between.
