An Eager Realtor Specializing in Military Relocations in Vacaville

Hazel Emlen is a kindhearted realtor with expertise in helping military families find their dream homes and take advantage of the government programs available to them. Though Hazel is now equipped with years of industry experience and couldn’t imagine doing anything else, her journey into real estate began in 2013 after being named Miss Vacaville.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Hazel moved to Vacaville when she was two years old and has lived there ever since. With a lifetime of experiences—including building deep friendships, attending the town’s schools, and appreciating the proximity to beaches, mountains, and city life in both San Francisco and Sacramento—Hazel knows Vacaville better than most. Over the last several decades, Hazel has witnessed an influx of residents, the building of new homes, and the relocation of businesses into the area. With low crime rates, world-renowned shopping destinations, and plenty of job opportunities at reputable companies—including ICON Aircraft, Kaiser, and Genentech—Vacaville has become the most desirable city in Solano County. “Vacaville is a really special town,” says Hazel. “Right away you notice the difference here versus other places—not only here in the state, but in the country. It has a very small-town feel, very close-knit.”

I love being able to help people. Just to be able to celebrate with somebody and to help them reach that milestone is the best part.
Hazel Emlen

While Hazel always loved looking at houses, she never thought she’d become a realtor, “that was never the plan” she says, laughing. But when she joined the pageant circuit and won the title of Miss Vacaville, she was invited to many events—including the one that would eventually launch her real estate career. At a charity dinner, Hazel met an industry professional who encouraged her to enter real estate. Meeting broker Tom Rapisarda changed Hazel’s career trajectory and, though she was hesitant to leave her stable job in property management, she’s never looked back.

You really get to change someone’s life. Buying a home is really the biggest purchase somebody’s ever going to make and the fact that I get to be a part of that is really special.

Cultivating A Love for Real EstatE

As a proud millennial, Hazel is up to date with the latest trends, but it’s her combination of tech-savvy tactics and nurturing personality that make her an outstanding realtor. With active social media accounts, a podcast, and segments on a national television show, Hazel is very involved with the real estate industry, her community, and her clients.

“Communication is always there,” says Hazel as she describes her relationship with clients. From when they first meet to when they begin the inspection process, to after they buy or sell their home, Hazel is there for her clients the whole way through. She also has a unique niche serving military clientele. Hazel's brother is in the military and she has a deep appreciation for those who are serving our country. With Travis Air Force Base located nearby, there are always families coming in and out of the area, but when it comes to government programs and loans available to them, there’s a lot that they don’t know about. Hazel guides them through the process, explaining the value of building equity wealth, even if they only plan on staying in Vacaville for a few years.

CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY

When Hazel isn’t recording a podcast, visiting local eateries and pumpkin patches for her television segment, spending time with her twin sister (who often gets mistaken for her around town), or helping clients find their ideal homes, you’ll find her giving back in a variety of ways. Hazel coaches youth soccer for girls between the ages of 8 and 14, volunteers for the Boys & Girls Club and Relay for Life, and was even nominated for Woman of The Year in Solano County in 2018. Hazel's commitment to giving back was the driving force behind her decision to enter pageants and continues to be one of her core values today.
