Summer officially began Monday, June 21st and as restaurants in San Diego are in the process of fully reopening for dining in, there’s nothing more satisfying than feasting at the city’s hottest dining spots this season. Here are five of San Diego’s top dine-in restaurants to enjoy fresh and flavorful dishes all summer long.

Mmm, doesn't this divine summer salad look scrumptious? Yum, yum, yum, it's time to feast on a quinoa salad.

Fig Tree Cafe

Fig Tree Cafe's menu is full of tasty summer dishes, including a light and refreshing quinoa salad. Dine in at either of Fig Tree’s two restaurant locations in San Diego—Pacific Beach or Liberty Station—to enjoy the combination of romaine lettuce, kale, crispy quinoa, red onion, cherry tomato, queso fresco, cilantro, black beans, jicama, roasted corn, avocado, and a chipotle vinaigrette. You can even pair this healthy treat with an antioxidant shot. The delectable tropical detox, made with fresh-pressed mango and pineapple, peruvian maca, and wild Ecuadorian spirulina, will leave you craving more.

Romesco

Romesco, a hidden culinary gem tucked away in the Bonita neighborhood, combines Mediterranean techniques and authentic Mexican flavors resulting in a uniquely delicious menu. From tapas to soup and salad, pasta to plates, Romesco is a simple but elegant bistro dedicated to serving harmonic courses and diverse dishes based on color, taste, texture, and aroma. This bistro is perfect for dining in during San Diego’s warmer summer months. Try the roadside ahi tuna tostada, which consists of guacamole, ponzu, fresh crema, tender greens, mild habanero salsa, and olive oil. Talk about delish.

Quiero Tacos

Tacos are a San Diego staple, and Seaport Village’s Quiero Tacos arguably has the best tacos in town. Try the one-of-a-kind Hawaiian chorizo, which consists of grilled pork chorizo, caramelized pineapple, and melted mozzarella cheese all on a homemade corn tortilla. You’re sure to love the Mike Hess fish taco—battered basa, cabbage, onion, tomato, and a house chipotle aioli, wrapped up in a homemade flour tortilla will take you to seventh heaven. And, as you dine in at this restaurant, you can take in some of San Diego’s best views of the bay, all while chowing down on the Quiero Tacos outdoor patio.

Who wouldn't want to take a bite out of this decadent breakfast dish?

Breakfast Company

Churros are the perfect summer dessert in San Diego; why not dine in at the Gaslamp’s Breakfast Company where churros await you. The churro French toast comes topped with house-made buttermilk ice cream, cinnamon sugar, and cajeta—can you think of a meal more divine? Treat yourself this weekend to this decadent breakfast dish. Sip the iconic Golden State latte, a delicious blend of espresso, maple, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and vanilla as you snack on French toast.

The Smoking Gun

Under the direction of Executive Chef Andy Weiss, The Smoking Gun has launched an all-new wagyu beef menu, just in time for summer. Menu items like the Smoking Gun Burger, and the Bbq Pork Bacon Burger, now consist of a 1/2 pound wagyu patty, topped with smoked gouda, homemade pickles, and smoked pork, on a homemade sweet bun. One bite of the wagyu flat iron, with roasted baby heirloom potatoes, farmers market veggies, and chimichurri, and you’ll be ordering seconds in no time.

Freshly baked bagels and new flavors, oh my. Head to Spill the Beans with your beaux.

Spill the Beans

Freshly made, inventive and conscientious, Spill the Beans is rapidly redefining how adults should begin their day. Found in the Gaslamp Quarter and in Seaport Village, take a bite out of the freshly baked bagels. While this San Diego restaurant is not yet open for dining in, we had to include it, because their cream cheese is just so tasty!

Flavors like roasted garlic and herb or sundried tomato and cheese, can be paired with spreads such as white truffle and parmesan, very berry, and more. So, have it delivered or get it to go. Each month Spill the Beans features a new flavor. This June, the salted onion and herb bagel with veggie ranch cream cheese was the flavor of the month. Be sure to keep an eye for more flavors throughout the summer!
