The Most Famous Female Singers in Hollywood

Liza Minnelli

Born: 1946

A recognizable icon with a powerful alto, Liza Minelli is the queen of Hollywood singers. This famous Californian is one of the few performers who has won the big four: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Her most renowned performance is the American musical drama film Cabaret, where Minelli excelled as an actress, dancer, and singer—talk about a triple threat. Her signature song “New York, New York”, is covered by many and repeated by all.

Fun fact: Liza was on screen long before she was born. Her mom, Judy Garland, was pregnant with her while shooting the 1946 movie Till the Clouds Roll By.

Jhené Aiko

Born: 1988

Los Angeles-born Jhené Aiko has been killing it in the industry since her first song “No L.O.V.E.” was released in 2003. From then on, her popularity has skyrocketed. Aiko put out her debut mixtape “Sailing Soul(s)” in 2011, with received positive reviews—her genre is best described as a mix of Alternative R&B and neo-soul. Since then, Aiko has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Song and Album of the Year. 

After the dissolution of the Go-Go's in 1985, Carlisle went on to have a successful solo career with radio hits like "Mad About You" and "I Get Weak."

Belinda Carlisle

Born: 1958

Heaven is a place on earth, thanks to Belinda Carlisle’s chart-topping song with the same name. Before going solo in 1985, Carlisle was the lead singer of one of the most successful all-female bands of all time, the Go-Go’s. The band reformed in 1999 with Carlisle touring until 2016. This famous singer has been nominated for many awards, including the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Heaven is a Place on Earth” at the 1988 Grammy Awards. Doja Cat

Born: 1995

Doja Cat first made headlines when she went viral with her novelty song “Mooo!” and now, she’s recording duets with Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, and Saweetie. The female artist has been crushing the industry since her rise to fame—we know you wouldn’t stop dancing to “Say So,” it’s on everyone’s beach playlists. She boasts a long list of awards under her belt, including New Artist of the Year and Top R&B Female Artist.

Eilish's first studio album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? debuted atop the US Billboard 200 and reached number one in the UK.

Billie Eilish

Born: 2001

Gen Z or not, there’s no way you can’t stop listening to Billie Eilish. The Los Angeles native has been in the spotlight since she released “Ocean Eyes” on SoundCloud in 2016—mind you, she was only 13 when she recorded the song. Eilish went on to record hits like “When The Party’s Over,” “Lovely,” “Bad Guy,” and “Everything I Wanted,” all of which earned her critical acclaim. Nowadays, Eilish is a household name, and her long list of awards includes Favorite Alternative Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. Jack Jones

Born: 1938

A pop and jazz sensation, Jack Jones is one of the most famous singers born into Hollywood royalty. His chart-toppers “Lollipops and Roses” and “Wives and Lovers” not only earned him a huge fan base, but also two Grammy Awards. Jones continued recording albums well into his 70s, with the final one being a tribute to Frank Sinatra titled “Seriously Frank.” And if you thought he’s slowing down, Jones went on an 80th Birthday Celebration Tour in 2018. Whether or not you’re into jazz, his feel-good songs are a must-add to any playlist even today. 

Levine's interest in music started at around ten years of age, when he first started playing the guitar. He performed his first gig when he was 12.

Adam Levine

Born: 1979

Frontman of Maroon 5 Adam Levine has it all—the looks, the fame, and the voice. The Los Angeles-born singer rose to fame in 2002 when Maroon 5 released their first studio album, “Songs About Jane.” Countless chart-topping songs and six albums later, the band is still at the top of the game. So far, Maroon 5 has won three Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, and an astonishing eight Billboard Music Awards. Our frontman knows a thing or two about horror as well—Levine appeared on season two of American Horror Story.

Malakian is known for his distinctive playing and is ranked 14th in Loudwire's list of "Top 50 Hard Rock + Metal Guitarists of All Time."

Daron Malakian

Born: 1975

Rock music fans, rejoice—one of the most famous musicians and singers in heavy metal is a Hollywood native. Daron Malakian is the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter of System of a Down, as well as the lead vocalist and guitarist of Scars on Broadway, two of the most iconic rock bands in the Golden State. The musician rose to fame in 1995 when System of a Down released their demo album. Now, Malakian has nine albums under his belt, seven with System of a Down and two with Scars on Broadway. With popular songs like “Mesmerize,” “Chop Suey,” and “B.Y.O.B.,” you know you’re going to add the Armenian-American multi-instrumentalist to your everyday workout playlist.

As a music producer, will.i.am has worked for other artists including A.R. Rahman, Cheryl, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Kesha, and many more.

Born: 1975

will.i.am made his breakthrough as a founding member of the Black Eyed Peas. The singer, songwriter, and record producer hasn’t stopped since. Every will.i.am song is played at parties, by the campfire, and even New Year’s Eve. Songs like “Boom Boom Pow,” “My Humps,” and “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” are basically always stuck in our heads. The Black Eyed Peas have won plenty of awards, including a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for The E.N.D.
