Known for its eclectic mix of storytelling, innovation, and artistry, the festival promises an array of films, from groundbreaking documentaries to compelling feature films and shorts, set against the backdrop of San Francisco's vibrant cultural landscape.

The closing highlight of the festival is Josh Margolin's "Thelma," a feature film that boasts a star-studded cast including June Squibb, Parker Posey, Malcolm McDowell, and the late Richard Roundtree, in what is billed as his final screen appearance. This film, screening on April 28, promises to be a fitting finale to the festival, offering a mix of nostalgia, stellar performances, and a compelling narrative.

The festival's programming is as diverse as it is dynamic, with notable films such as "The Idea of You," "Sing Sing," "Janet Planet," and "Porcelain War" set to captivate audiences. A highlight for industry insiders is the private screening of the opening night film "Dìdi (弟弟)" in the immersive  Dolby Cinema @ 1275 Market.

In addition to the screenings, the festival is also a platform for special events and awards that recognize the contributions of significant figures in cinema. This year, the festival honors Chiwetel Ejiofor, the director and actor behind "Rob Peace," and Joan Chen, the executive producer of "Didi" and director of "Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl," which will be screened in 35 mm. Both Ejiofor and Chen will receive tributes, celebrating their achievements and contributions to the film industry.

Film history runs through California and that makes the state's film festivals some of the best in the world.
