It goes without saying that any makeup you feel good in is what you should be rocking; no matter the season or the trends. Nevertheless, playing with different shades and colors that feel seasonal and timely could be a fun way to update your look in an instant. We rounded up our favorite autumn makeup looks from the best California-based MUAs; here’s how you can recreate them and what products you need to use.

Celebrate autumn all day everyday with a crisp cat eye. Your style will stay on fleek as always

Everyday Autumn

A crisp cat eye never goes out of style, and Los Angeles based makeup artist Hrush Achemyan (@styledbyhrush) shows us exactly why that is. Quick to apply and great for everyday wear, this classic yet simple fall makeup look is perfect for both daytime and nighttime. Slightly too simple for you? Add a touch of serious drama to this cute fall makeup look and wing it out about an inch more. The trick is to keep the rest of the look simple and your eyes will be at the center of attention. Achemyan opted for a nude lip and a shimmery highlight to complement her sharp liner and we recommend you do as well.

Need a black liner that’ll stay all day, every day? The liquid liner from Anastasia Beverly Hills has been a staple in our makeup bags for a while now. Waterproof and highly pigmented, this matte liquid liner practically glides on, delivering precise lines with perfect ease.

Shades of Terracotta

Bronzy terracotta in its various shades comes back to take center stage almost every fall season. SoCal raised makeup artist Lottie, better known by her username @lotstar, created this gorgeous fall eyeshadow look for KKW Beauty. Apply a concealer base prior to starting with the eyeshadow, and once you’re done blending use a cotton pad to sharpen out the shape of this fall inspired makeup look and make it more defined. Since the eye makeup is intense enough on its own, use a neutral colored lipstick and add a touch of fall blush in the same shade of burnt orange.

Since the KKW Beauty brand is in the midst of a re-launch at the moment, you can recreate the look in similar colors with the salted caramel mini eyeshadow palette from Too Faced, a top-notch Newport Beach-based brand. Coming in eight autumn-inspired colors, this palette can very easily help you craft your own fall eye makeup looks in many different shades.

Make sure to add shades of terracotta to your makeup palette this fall.

Berry Bliss

While colder weather hints that autumn is around the corner, deep lips are what solidify its arrival. This fall-favorite trend comes back year after year, and in 2021 it has manifested itself in different shades of bountiful berries. Beyonce’s favorite makeup artist Sir John (@sirjohn) is the creative behind these gorgeous monochrome autumn makeup looks, and you can make your own version of it at home as well!

While the eye look is absolutely stunning, what stands out most to us here is the gorgeous lip combo. Recreate the look for less by choosing the shade most flattering to your complexion from Colourpop Cosmetics’ berry punch lip stain set. Once the stain dries, go over it with the in the cut gloss and your fall lipstick look will be complete.

90s Blue Shadow

The electric blue 90s eyeshadow was deemed as a fashion faux pas for a long while—but not anymore. The super fun shade of shadow has officially made a comeback as of 2021, and, against all odds, we’re absolutely loving it. Los Angeles based makeup artist to the stars Kelsey Deenihan (@kdeenihan) created this gorgeous shimmery look on TikTok star Charlie D’amelio, and we’re obsessed. If you have a reason to go all out this autumn (maybe an engagement or a wedding?), this is the October makeup look you should replicate.

The 18A blue ya away artistry palette from Morphe has all the necessary blues, as well as the shimmery greys and blacks needed to smoke your look out like Deenihan did on Charlie. Pair the cute fall makeup look with a sleek gloss and a touch of mascara.

The blue eyeshadow that was all the rage in the 90s has made its way back in the spotlight.

Hello Underliner

From the runway to Instagram, we’ve been seeing underliners gaining more and more traction in autumn 2021. Lady Gaga’s go-to MUA Sarah Tanno (@sarahtannomakeup) created this look on the artist using the four-way shadow palette in seduction from Haus Laboratories; Gaga’s vegan makeup line.

Tanno opted for shades of rosy pinks for the eyelids, cheeks, and lips, but added a bit of an edge to the fall makeup look by lining underneath the eyes with a shimmery blue. Tanno chose to add a classic black liner to the upper lid, but you can keep the blue theme going by connecting the underliner and the regular liner using the same shade.

Pop of Neon

Not quite ready to let go of the bright summery colors just yet? Do what Patrick Ta (@patrickta) did on Gigi Hadid and add a pop of neon in your inner corners for a fun little twist. The otherwise simple fall makeup look is absolutely beautiful nonetheless, but the bright orange just kicks it up a notch in the best way.

To recreate this fall eye makeup look with your favorite color, choose any of the Vivid Bright Creme shades from NYX. If you want to have a clean application like Patrick Ta, go in with a flat packing brush and blend out the colors for a seamless transition between the nudes and the neon. However, if you’re more of a fan of a grungier look, use your finger to apply the shadow and smudge it out however you like.

Which fall makeup palette will you try next?

Instagram Eyes

Were none of the cute fall makeup looks we featured daring enough for you? Wait till you see Liv Huffman’s (@lilbittylivie) feed. We picked out a black and white liner look that’s just edgy enough to be worn outside, but if you’d like real out of the box fall makeup ideas, check out the rest of Huffman’s works on Instagram and Tiktok. The unique and unexpected makeup looks Huffman creates feel right at home on an artist’s vision board; and if you’re on your way to become one as well, you’ll love checking her profile for inspo.

To create this cool liner look in black and white—or any other two shades you like—use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-on eye pencils. Opaque, long-lasting, and super smooth to apply, these liners won’t ever let you down on a night out.
