Where to Watch Survivor in California: The Best Watch Parties Across the State

California has a Survivor problem, and nobody's complaining. From Hollywood to Vacaville, fans are packing bars every Wednesday night to watch strangers outwit, outplay and outlast each other on national television. It is one of the longest-running shows on television, and California is treating it accordingly. Here is where to find it. 

Los Angeles: The Epicenter of California's Survivor Scene 

Los Angeles has the most dedicated watch party scene in the state. Multiple venues run weekly events through the season, and the crowds treat tribal council like a sporting event. If you are in LA on a Wednesday night during a new episode, you have options. 

Hi Tops 

1714 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz / 8933 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood 

Hi Tops runs two LA locations and both go hard for Survivor Wednesdays. The sports bar's wall of screens and a crowd that is very comfortable yelling at the television make it one of the better places in the city to watch anything. The energy on a good elimination night is hard to match. Survivor airs at 8 p.m. Free admission. 

The Palm and the Pine 

1624 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood 

The Palm and the Pine has earned its spot as the go-to weekly Survivor destination in Hollywood. The bar hosts episodes every Wednesday at 8 p.m. through the season and draws a crowd that takes the show seriously. 

For premiere and finale nights, grab a spot on Partiful ahead of time. Walk-ins are welcome but space fills up fast. Free admission. 

The Abbey 

692 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood 

When The Abbey hosted its first Survivor watch party for the Season 50 premiere, the crowd was standing-room only before the episode even aired. Variety showed up to write about it. That kind of energy is what The Abbey does best. It is not a weekly stop. The bar saves itself for premieres, merges and finales, so watch the event calendar closely when a big episode is coming up. No cover. 

Long Beach: Wednesday Nights Done Right 

Long Beach has always had its own identity, separate from LA and proud of it. 

Beachwood Brewing and Distilling 

3630 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach 

Beachwood Brewing takes the watch party format and goes further than most. Every Wednesday at 8 p.m., the taproom runs a season-long prediction game with a leaderboard. It also hides a handcrafted immunity idol somewhere in the bar each week for bonus points. The top three players on the leaderboard at season's end win prizes. Free admission. Opens at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. 

San Francisco: The Bay's Most Immersive Survivor Experience 

The city that invented counterculture found its Wednesday night ritual in a reality show about voting people off an island. Makes perfect sense. 

Last Rites 

718 14th St., San Francisco 

The inside of Last Rites is built around the wreckage of a crashed jungle plane, actual fuselage included. Thunderstorm sound effects and tropical scents run throughout the space. CBS San Francisco ran a feature on the weekly Survivor gatherings here during Season 50. There is no better backdrop for a show about survival in the wild. Wednesdays, doors at 5 p.m., Survivor at 8 p.m. Free, 21 and older. 

San Diego: The Fans Run This One 

For a city that loves its sports, San Diego has taken to reality TV just as hard. 

Survivor San Diego Watch Party 

Rotating venues, San Diego 

What San Diego lacks in a permanent venue, it makes up for in dedication. A grassroots Meetup group of nearly 70 fans has been showing up every Wednesday since Season 50, moving between bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, East Village and North Park. They find a spot, they show up, and they do it again the following week. The community is always happy to have more people to argue with about who should have been voted off. 

Vacaville: The Unlikeliest Stop on the Map 

The tribe has spoken, and apparently it lives in Solano County. 

Napoli Pizzeria 

2030 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville 

Nobody would have put Vacaville on the Survivor watch party map, but Napoli Pizzeria has been doing it for years. The family-owned pizza spot has been a Solano County institution since 1956. It runs weekly Wednesday watch parties through the season in a dining room full of people who care deeply about who gets voted off. It is unpretentious, local and not trying to be anything else. No cover. Closed Tuesdays.
