From the Presidio to Pier 39, all of San Francisco is getting ready to put up their Christmas trees, plug in the Christmas tree lights, and celebrate the holiday season. While we’re not quite over the fact that the Bay Area’s pumpkin patches have been replaced by Christmas tree farms or that the state’s gorgeous fall foliage is beginning to fade away, the magic of the season has crept in and can be felt from Disneyland in Southern California all the way up to Ghirardelli Square in our beloved San Francisco—and there’s little we love more than the holly-jolly spirit. If you’re in the same camp as us, then you don’t want to miss out on the Ghirardelli Square tree-lighting ceremony.

When is the San Francisco Tree Lighting at Ghirardelli Square?
Friday, November 29, from 4 to 9 p.m.
What to Expect at the 55th Annual Ghirardelli Square Tree Lighting
The outdoor Christmas tree lighting celebration includes entertainment by Kevin Toqe Music, holiday arts and crafts, and of course, an appearance by Santa.
Where is Ghirardelli Square?
Ghirardelli Square is located at 900 North Point Street, at the corner of Beach and Larkin Streets near Fisherman’s Wharf. Parking is available along the streets or in the garages on Larkin Street between North Point and Beach Streets, and on Beach Street between Larkin and Polk Streets. The celebration itself will take place in the West Plaza.
Grab a sundae from Ghirardelli, get some holiday shopping done in the square, and play a round of miniature golf before the festivities begin, but don’t forget to take some pictures of the towering Christmas tree with the lights on once it’s finally lit. Afterward, turn your trip into a staycation by checking out the best things to do in San Francisco; you’ll get to experience all of the holiday magic before the holiday crowds, and it’s sure to be a weekend you won’t forget.
