Memorial Day weekend in San Francisco is packed with exciting events and activities for everyone. Whether you're a local or a visitor, there's no shortage of things to do to make the most of this long weekend. Here are some of the best events and attractions to consider.

Bottlerock 2025

While not exactly in San Francisco, the annual Bottlerock music festival in nearby Napa Valley is worth the short trip. This year’s headliners include Green Day, Justin Timberlake, Noah Kahan, and Sublime. The festival offers an eclectic mix of music and food, making it a perfect getaway for music lovers.

2025 San Francisco Carnaval Grand Parade

A highlight of the Memorial Day weekend is the San Francisco Carnaval Grand Parade, taking place on Sunday, May 25. This vibrant, free, two-day festival spans 17 blocks in the Mission District. The event features five main stages, 50 local performing artists, and 400 vendors offering international food, dancing, and entertainment. This multicultural celebration, which has seen performances by legends like Celia Cruz and Santana, draws over 400,000 attendees annually. It's a fantastic way to experience the rich cultural diversity of San Francisco.

Baseball Games

Sports fans have a lot to look forward to this Memorial Day weekend. The Athletics will be playing a 3-game series against the Phillies at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California. This is the first season the A's have played up north since it departed from Oakland.

The Giants are on a road trip. However, San Francisco is filled with places to watch the games. So find a spot, sit down, enjoy some food, and watch baseball.

SF Symphony Performances

For those who appreciate classical music, the San Francisco Symphony has a series of performances at Davies Symphony Hall. Over the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, "Salonen Conducts The Firebird" will be the key performance at the hall. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30pm and Sunday is a midday show at 2:00pm.

The San Francisco Symphony is one of the city's shining jewels.

Enjoy San Francisco's Museums

San Francisco boasts an array of world-class museums and historical sites that are perfect for a day of exploration. Spend some time at the Presidio, a former military post now converted into a beautiful park with trails, museums, and scenic overlooks. The Presidio offers a mix of history, nature, and recreation, making it an ideal spot for families and history buffs alike.

Alternatively, explore the city's diverse museums. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the de Young Museum, and the Exploratorium are just a few options that offer fascinating exhibits ranging from contemporary art to science and technology.

Explore Golden Gate Park

Take advantage of San Francisco's stunning outdoor spaces by spending a day exploring the city. Golden Gate Park is a must-visit, offering vast green spaces, gardens, and attractions like the California Academy of Sciences and the Japanese Tea Garden. For breathtaking views, head to Twin Peaks or the Marin Headlands, where you can take in panoramic vistas of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you're looking for a more laid-back activity, stroll along the Embarcadero, visit Fisherman’s Wharf, or take a ferry ride to Alcatraz Island. Each of these iconic locations provides a unique perspective on the city and its history.
