A recent survey by The Knot shows that around 71 percent of couples are postponing their wedding due to COVID-19. California has currently prohibited receptions in the light of rising infection rates, and the idea of holding a wedding without a party is less than appealing to many. Moreover, some couples have friends and family who live far away, and even those residing nearby may not be able to attend because of restrictions on numbers.

Still, a small portion of couples are going through with their plans, either eloping in California or hosting micro weddings and saving a larger reception for a later date. If you are thinking of getting married in California in these times, what considerations should you keep in mind?

Stay Updated On Current Regulations

It is important to pay close attention to changes in rules and regulations. Currently, the State Health Officer has generally prohibited gatherings of all types statewide, with limited exceptions for weddings and other specified events. Wedding ceremonies are allowed outdoors, but all receptions, parties, and large celebrations are not. Currently, both churches and city hall ceremonies are offering limited appointments to comply with social distancing requirements. Therefore, you may have to wait a little longer than your chosen date. No guests or witnesses are currently permitted, though city halls will provide you with one if required.

Whether you decide to elope or host a micro wedding, shopping for your dress is one of the best parts of planning a wedding.

Shop For Your Wedding

One aspect of the wedding planning process that you can enjoy is shopping for items such as your dream wedding dress. Some of the most popular wedding shops in California include Casablanca Bridal Flagship Store, Winnie Couture Bridal Shop, and Deborah’s Bridal. Some stores are temporarily closed, while others require that appointments be made in advance, so let your fingers do the walking and call a select number of shops you are interested in to find out how long you will have to wait to book a slot.

Shop for your wedding bands and make your final selections in person or virtually.

Look For Wedding Bands

When it comes to wedding bands for brides and grooms, many companies are offering virtual appointments so you can see exactly how the rings will look on your finger. Using your laptop or phone, you can “try on” the latest styles. You can also visit stores to check out the fit in person, but prior bookings will probably be necessary once again.

Before you visit, build a wedding ring book so you can narrow your choice of styles, cuts, and materials. For men, trending wedding rings include those made in titanium, tungsten, and black titanium; some have a brushed, polished surface for optimal durability. For women, ask about classic gold, rose gold, and stacked bands. Twisted bands are the latest design on the scene, and their popularity is owed to their symbolism: A twisted band represents two lives joining together as one.

Savor the newlywed vibes and take a staycation with your life partner after you tie the knot.

Enjoy A Short Honeymoon

If you plan on postponing your reception to months after your official ceremony, you may also decide to go on your honeymoon later. However, after getting married, you may wish to enjoy a romantic weekend away at a luxury hotel such as the Beverly Wilshire, the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, or the Montage Laguna Beach. All of these hotels have information on their respective websites regarding measures being taken during the pandemic. These include taking digital temperatures upon entry, requiring the use of masks in public indoor spaces, and having modified restaurant hours. Call the hotel for your booking so you can let the staff know you are newlyweds—they will surely have special plans for those choosing their hotel for such a special occasion.

The vast majority of couples in the U.S. are postponing weddings so they can celebrate their big day in the company of friends and family later on. Currently, ceremonies and receptions have strict regulations, so if you wish to go ahead with your wedding anyway, ensure you are well versed in the protocol in your particular county. Even if you leave the celebrations for 2021, you can still enjoy a beautiful getaway in a luxurious hotel—one where the food is fantastic and the views are enviable.
